Please accept my apology for this crude estimation of metric conversion. I have never seen a non-american version of the FT rules. I tried to make by conversion easy to use.
3' = 1m
1"= 25mm
so a 6'x3' table would be approx. 3x1m.
each point of thrust would move a ship 25mm.

Hi, I'm very new to FT and don't as yet have MT but though you might be interested in a short battle report of a scenario my friend and I played to try out the FT system.
This Scenario (May God Have Mercy on our Souls) is sort of a preamble to a larger campaign between the Federated Worlds (I know real original.) and the United Asian Protectorate (UAP). This we are planning on using the warp point concept from B5, with only Capital Ships being able to open warp points.
Without making this too long I'm going to omit the design specs for the various ships.
FW forces
UAP forces
Turn 1
The FW forces came in through 2 adjacent warp points, (came in a thrust 2).
The UAP fleet was arrayed in a line abreast with the Fuigi holding the middle of the line flanked by the 3 Nippon class escort carriers, also on either end of the line was a Hakkido, with the Nikita in the back of the battle fleet. The 2 Slovinias were on the far right ready to make a run at the opposing carriers. In front of the main battle line was a screen of 4 Tusami class destroyers and 2 fighter squadrons.
Once the FW fleet was through the warp point it immeadatly launched fighters, and moved its battlecrusers to meet the UAP battle line. There was two turns of the fleets moving into weapons range. After these two turns both fleets had a majority of their fighter screens launched. The Slovinias on the far right of the UAP battle line, were starting to make their move towards the FW carriers.
On Turn 3 the fighter screens engaged, with the UAP being outnumbered 2:1 it was a slaughter. Only 1 UAP fighter squadron was left alive, and 7 FW squadrons were still mostly untouched. The remaining FW squadrons headed for the main UAP battle line.
Also on this turn the UAP Tusami destroyers opened up on the FW battlecrusers and escort ships. They performed admirably, making 1 BCR and 2 escorts take threshold checks, while only loosing 1 of their own.
Turn 4 the fighters attack the SHI (hikkido class), which is too far from any escort vessels to help provide ADF. The fighters destroy a number of weapons batteries and damage the ships engines.) FW fighters also hit the line of destroyers taking out 2 of them and allowing the FW BCRS through the destroyer screen. At this point the UAP battleship Fiugi opens up at medium range and nearly destroys one of the FW BCRS.
Turn 5 Fighters attack the Slovinia class ships, now only 1-2 turns from the FW carriers, and destroy one of them. Attrition from the repeated fighter attacks has reduced their number to 5 squadrons. The Slovinias fire at the FW carriers scoring hits on the Essex class light carrier, but no systems damage. The UAP main battle line and the BCRs w/ escort from the FW fleet meet. A total of 5 ships concentrates on the Fiugi battleship and destroys her. Though both Courtney class are destroyed and both BCRS are damaged.
At this point the UAP is left with one slightly damaged Hakkido cruiser, 1 heavily damage Hakkido cruiser, 1 destroyer, 1 Slovinia cruiser, and 1 Nikkita Class.
The FW has less than 1/2 of its fighters left and most all of its ships, but only the one Fleet carrier is left untouched.
We Played this through for 2 more turns with each of us destroying various escort ships, but no more capitals were damaged.
Under mutual agreement, we called it a draw, the UAP forces though damaged, still outgunned the FW forces. The FW forces commander felt that there was not enough firepower left in his fleet to fight through the remaining UAP fleet and lay waste to the system they were attacking. So the Invincible class carrier opened a Warp Point and headed for home with what escort ships could make it.
Some things I learned from this game:
