Cygnus Fleet Proving Exercise

GP: The Cygnus Fleet Proving Exercise has begun to heat up. Fleets are beginning to enter weapons range. In fact Both Brendan's fleet and Aron's fleet have fired upon each other. Aron's fleet launched a MT331 (see related story) missile at its target fleet (Brendan). At the same time, in an attempt to stave off Aron until Dominic is in range, Brendan has launched an experimental weapon (see related story). The majority of ships have now entered passive scanning range. Threat assessments and profiles are quickly being developed on the bridges of each fleet.

New Weapon Unveiled

Today marked the use of a new energy weapon developed to combat the Kra'Vak. The weapon was used as part of the Cygnus Fleet Proving Exercise. The unnamed as yet weapon ejects a plasma generator and then ignites it using a small fusion charge. "This micro-star has a great damage potential." said Vice Admiral McLand, chairman for development of new systems. [continued on page 23]

Newer is Not Always Better

The Cygnus Fleet Proving Exercise saw the venerable MT334 Jaguar missile deployed for the first time in 4 years. The MT334 was mothballed in favor of the new SM103 Wolfpack missile system 4 years ago. With the added pressure of the Kra'Vak, the MT334 is thought to be a way to give small and midsize ships some added punch. [continued on page 8]
